Award-winning Kazakh film ‘Deep Well’ directed by Zhanabek Zhetiruov is set to screen at the 37th annual Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) in Iran’s capital of Tehran later this month.
The 2018 film is based on a novel by the same name from Kazakh author Abish Kekilbayev.
‘Deep Well’ which depicts the story of an expert well-digger by the name of Yensep, is a tale of love, betrayal, friendship, rivalry, and pride.
Zhetiruov’s film was recently awarded Best Cinematography at the Asian Competition section of the 17th edition of the Dhaka International Film Festival in Bangladesh.
On the film’s success, here’s what the director had to say.
“The film has been well received by the public. I’m glad that the film has made its way to international film festivals as our country prepares to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Abish Kekilbayev.”
Since its establishment in 1982, the Fajr International Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.
The 37th edition of the festival will be held April 18-26, 2019 in Tehran, Iran.
